Photo Forums

This is not a competition – just a way for individual CAPA members (sorry no Clubs) to submit up to 3 images on a theme and then other members who are also submitting can give comments on the image.

This is intended to be fun and a learning experience – no medals – no certificates or awards of any kind – just the fun of photography and a discussion with fellow photographers.  We invite all members who enjoy the thrill of shooting a subject to submit an image for discussion.  Do not worry if you are experienced or not – this is for fun.  You may want to try a different technique and want feedback as to whether or not this adds to your image.  There is no need to be embarrassed or worry about whether or not your image will qualify – this is for fun! Please read the following instructions below.

How to use the Forums
Forum Guidlines
Forum Guidlines:
  • Only post your own photos (respect copyright).
  • Ensure your image file sizes are below 500kb.
  • Ensure your image is not more than 1400px wide x 1050 high.
  • Add details about your image, both technical and objectives.
  • Give honest, dignified and respectful critique and comments.
  • Do not post more than one new image per 24 hours.
  • Do not take offense at, or read more into comments than is there.
Submit an Image
How to Submit an Image:
  1. Click on Forum you wish to contribute to (red text above the forum icon)
  2. Create New Topic – Scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says “create a new topic” .
  3. Add a title and any instructions. For example “please comment on this portrait please”.
  4. Load your image
    • In the box below the Topic Title, click on the ‘mountain in a box’ icon
    • A pop-up window will open that says Insert/Edit Image
    • Enter the title of your image as the Topic Title.
    • Enter 1400 X 1050 in the Dimensions boxes. Leave Constrain proportions checked
    • Above the Image Description box, click the ‘folder with magnifying glass’ icon.
    • Navigate to your image on your computer and select it. It must be in a .jpg format
    • Click OK. Don’t worry that only part of your image is showing.
  5. Notifications: Tick the box to ‘Notify me of follow-up replies via email’ if you would like an email notification when a comment is entered.
  6. Click SUBMIT. Your topic will be displayed along with your image in a new page
Commenting
How to comment on someone else’s image:
  1. Click on any Forum (red text above the icon) to add a comment
  2. Choose a topic to comment on in the list and click on it.
  3. On the topic page, scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says Reply To: [topic]
  4. In the box, enter the text of your comment
  5. Click SUBMIT
  6. Your comment will be below earlier comments
