Lightroom Archives and Backup Strategies

The education committee is pleased to announce the following presentation:

“Lightroom Archives & Backup Strategies – A Complete Approach to Protecting Your Photography”

This panel session will focus on two essential components of a reliable photography workflow: organizing and safeguarding your images.

Tracy Elliott will focus on managing Lightroom archives, including catalog structure, keywording, metadata, and maintaining an organized archive that makes it easy to find and work with images over the long term.

Jason Duncan will share practical backup strategies, from the widely used 3-2-1 rule to more advanced methods like geographic redundancy and cold storage. The discussion will cover how to build a layered system using local, networked, and cloud storage, how to integrate backups into your regular workflow, and how to ensure your files can be restored when needed.

Together, these presentations will provide photographers with a clear framework for keeping their image collections both organized and well-protected.
